During the months of September, October, and November, concert sales seem to be at an all time high, every year. It’s crazy. I’ll have just fallen in love with an artist or re-discovered their glory, ill check (out of pure curiosity) if that artist is on tour, and lucky enough, the concert is next Tuesday. I don’t know what it is, but every time a fav artist of mine is on tour its in those months and in my city.
Though I could state the obvious and why I need to be at those concerts, my wallet could beg a differ. PRO behind the three month concert faze, the thrilling change in ceanery and a break from the otherwise drab life of a high schooler, the music, and in most cases the hot lead singer (aka Paul Klein). The only CON in this scenario is the empty wallet.
So, from a broke girl who’s experienced many concerts in her time, to you. My tips on how to be ballin on a budget (concert szn style)
- Have an open/flexable schedule. I know, this step seems pointless, and mostly un seen in my life. but, having close commute to the local concert scenes, and easy access is key. Since I’m newly licensed, this mainly consists of parents driving, or the occasional lyft. The golden rule- if you can get there, go there.
- Bandsintown. This is my go-to app when it comes to finding concert tickets on the fly. When you first get the app, it asks for all your music listening info (Apple Music vs. spotify) and links all your music to the app. Then, it gets your location and it tells you when all your fav artists are coming to your city. It’s the absolute best because it gives you all the options to buy your tickets straight from the app and offers you all the different websites prices and how to score the cheapest ones.
- Summer savings. buying the tickets, the pre dinner party, and the band tee’s after, can really add up quick. Using your summer as a savings for all the concert szn fun can take the pressure off to owing anyone back, finding bank quick, or the saddest of all, not going. For me, concerts and experiences with people I love is worth spending all my money on because that’s what I’m going to remember about my high school days. You have your whole life to get rich, how long is it okay to go screaming your favorite songs in someone else ear for 80mins? (I actually don’t care how long its acceptable, ill be doing it forever)
- Get your concert going gang. For me, I know I can always go to my bff meg for any concert. Our friendship can be traced back to buying Jon Bellion tickets (round one) after finding our our equal love for him and his music. Find people who can jam with you no matter what you look like doing it. Concerts are the best way to bring people together in my eyes. If you have a group of people you love hanging out with? Go to a concert!! Your love for them will even grow and now you have more memories to add to the list! If you have a bff who’s gaining a year, Take them to a concert!! My bff Katelyn just had a bday and instead of getting her something she would later forget about, we got her a night she’ll never forget. My sister and her friends used to give people concerts for their birthdays, but instead of choosing for them, they would split up the cost of any concert that the birthday gal wanted to go to. When you have that group of people, it makes the concert 100X better.
Here’s to concert szn, hope your’s is as amazing as it should be.
FAB
